The Dayton International School is truly unique in the Miami Valley. It's the only school in the Dayton area that fosters bilingualism, intercultural understanding, and a global perspective.
The federal government, employers, and students themselves have identified a need for citizens to have more effective language skills, intercultural knowledge, and a global perspective. Yet, most young adults say the didn't discuss world events in school and 75% wish their schools had taken a global approach rather than a national one.
Most Ohio graduates are at a distinct disadvantage in the global economy, where foreign-born workers are bilingual and have a global perspective honed by intercultural knowledge. That's why the Dayton International School is unique and so important to the Dayton area. It's the only school in the Miami Valley where students are immersed in a foreign language and culture, learning math, science, art social studies and more -- all their school subjects -- in a foreign language.
More than just challenging academics, the Dayton International School offers students the unique chance to become bilingual at an early age. However, as a private school, we're ineligible for public funding.
Tuition alone can't cover all of the Dayton International School's expenses, and generous people like you make up the difference. The Friends of the Dayton International School fund supports the mission of the school on a daily basis, while special funds such as the Birthday Book Club support specific projects. Your support is not just important, but vital to the long-term success of the Dayton International School.
Sincerely,
Laura Skidmore
